Enter the forest on foot, following established trekking routes through dense vegetation, towering trees, vines, and humid tropical undergrowth. Your guide will help you understand the rainforest ecosystem and look for signs of wildlife.
With patience and a little luck, you may encounter wild Sumatran orangutans moving through the canopy. Other possible sightings include Thomas leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques, gibbons, hornbills, and colorful forest birds. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, as animals move freely through their natural habitat.
Throughout the trek, your guide will explain the importance of protecting this globally significant rainforest, its biodiversity, and the habitats of endangered species.
Stop for lunch in a suitable forest location, then continue toward your designated campsite. Depending on the route and weather, the trail may include steep sections, muddy ground, roots, and uneven terrain.

Important travel information
Physical fitness: This tour includes rainforest trekking, an overnight jungle camp, a volcano hike, and several long road journeys. A reasonable level of fitness and comfort with uneven terrain is recommended.
Wildlife encounters: Orangutans and other wild animals live freely in the rainforest. Sightings cannot be guaranteed. Travelers should follow guide instructions and never feed, touch, or approach wildlife.
Responsible elephant tourism: Elephant activities depend on the local facility’s availability and current welfare practices. Activities should prioritize conservation, observation, and animal welfare.
Weather and safety: Rain, river levels, volcanic conditions, and sea conditions can affect the itinerary. Activities and boat trips may be changed or cancelled when unsafe.
