Will i see orangutan in the wildduring a jungle trekking in Bukit lawang .?

There is a chance you might see the orangutan in jungle. The longer you spend time, the more chance you might see the orangutan. This is a wild place and the wild animals are traveling in search for food during day time

Can we arrange pick up and drop off ..?

Yes.. We can arrange pick and transfer for you from and to multiple touristic destination. This is the best way to get around and hassle free. The transport price will be cheaper and discounted If you bundled with the tour with us

You should understand that tours arranged by Sumatra Tour & Travel also involve certain risks and dangers. These include: traveling in mountain terrain, trekking in dense rainforest and crossing rivers; unpredictable behavior of wildlife; accidents caused by the forces of nature; accidents or illness in remote regions with little or no medical facilities and without any means of rapid or free evacuation; accidents caused by Indonesian traffic.

So please note: insurance lies within the responsibility of each traveller or group to cover for accidents, injury or loss of property. Our Sumatra travel advisory: You should especially make sure with your health insurance to cover for foreign travel, jungle-trekking, transport and the like!

Places to stay and Accommodations

There are many places you could stay in Bukit lawang, Berastagi, Samosir Island with very affordable prices. We work closely with them and be partner. We can arranges the accommodation for you to suit your budget and criteria.

How fit should be for the jungle trekking trip..?

The weather here is hot and humid as it is a tropical area. The terrains are steep incline and decline. yes… you need to be fit to do the jungle trek. Fit and energetic with lots of stamina

Are there ATM's in Bukit lawang

There are some ATMs at Gotong Royong Indomaret. This Atm is limited. There some ATMs at Bahorok, 9km away from bukit lawang. You could take tuktuk or scooter to tranport you there. There are few money changer in Bukit Lawang. Best way is that you could bring enough cash from the city of Medan. There are so many ATMs at airport or along your way to Bukit lawang. ask the driver to stop at the atms if you go with the private car.

Tap water and random food street

The source of the water people used in the village around sumatra mainly ground water. This water need to be boiled before consume it. Always drink from bottled water or refill water that is from the water company. DON’T DRINK TAP WATER even at the big hotel.

Don’t eat random street food, especially foods that exposed to the open air. This type of food prepared much earlier and in the morning and last until night time or even the next day. The food will be reheated repeatedly.

Places to eat and restaurant in bukit lawang ..?

Yes.. There are many good restaurant in Bukit Lawang. They are open until 10pm. This restaurant are not fast food. This restaurant offer Order to make food. Try Indonesian food instead European food. The local food will taste better than western food in bukit lawang. However, you could order some western food in the restaurant as well.

Indonesian food especially in Sumatra are Very Spicy with Chilies. You have to mentioned specifically to the waiter if you don’t like spicy food.

How about vegetarian and vegans ..?

There are not many places that specialized on this type of food. But surely we can managed for you. All you need to do is let us know either you are vegan and vegetarian and explain to us what are the food requirements.. Then we will make it ready for you through out the jungle trek tour

Payment and Deposit

We need to arrange the driver,tent equipment and all team will be involved organizing the tour you ordered. Then these thing need to book to secures the dates. We required to get 20 % DEPOSIT payment for the TOTAL COST of your tours. The remaining balance can be paid upon your arrival in Bukit Lawang. We would like to received in Indonesian Currency.

For the DEPOSIT payment can be transfer with REVOLUT or WISE directly to our Indonesia Bank Account. Then we will received in indonesia IDR.

Camping gears and equipment

There will be some porters accompany through the jungle and Some other porter going from different direction with all other equipment needed (tent, camping mats, sleeping bags) and all the food. Just bring your personal belongings in a small backpack.

It would be of advantage if you could bring your own light sleeping bag. If you don’t have a sleeping bag that’s no problem:our team will provide sleeping bags as well as safety jackets for tube rafting.

Traveling Solo, how much should i pay

It is possible to join one of our jungle trek tour. You could join the group and pay for a single person cost. It cost 70 EURO per person / day for the jungle trek tour. The minimum number of people is 2PX to do Jungle trek tour to cover the whole cost if you choose not to join the group. Mean that you need to pay for two if you are on your own and don’t join the group – PRIVATE TOUR

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a wonderful 9-day trip in North Sumatra with Rimba Sumatra. A very special thank you to Rimba, who was our main guide and driver throughout the journey, from Bukit Lawang and Berastagi to Lake Toba and Samosir Island.
Rimba was always friendly, patient and caring. He drove for many hours almost every day, often 4+ hours, and still took great care of us throughout the trip. Since my English is not very good, he patiently used a translator whenever needed and even taught me English along the way. He also accompanied and guided us around Samosir on the 28th, introducing us to the local scenery and culture. After spending so many days together, we really appreciated his patience, responsibility and kindness.
The 2D1N jungle trek was another unforgettable experience. Huge thanks to Tommy, Andika and Immanuel. Even in the middle of the jungle, the food was delicious and beautifully presented, which really surprised us! When my sister and I were bitten by leeches, they took very good care of us. When I became too tired to continue the original route, they were very understanding and quickly coordinated a different route for us. We always felt safe and well looked after.
Thank you also to our Mount Sibayak guide, Marison Sitepu, who prepared hot tea and biscuits for us on the mountain so we could regain some energy while enjoying the beautiful sunrise. It was such a thoughtful touch.
Everyone was professional, warm and genuinely caring. Thank you especially to Rimba for being with us throughout these 9 days and making the whole journey smooth, comfortable and memorable.

The jungle was amazing and captivating and our guide Tommy was great!! When we spotted a toucan but couldn’t see it again. He did a toucan call which the toucan responded and allow us to see it again. We did the 5D4N trek. The food was amazing truly above and beyond. The trek was not that intense and we spent a bunch of time swimming and relaxing in rivers. I recommend it to anyone!

Paradoxalement, nous n'avons pas utilisé cette agence pour Bukit Lawang mais pour réserver des transports en taxi privé climatisé  entre Medan - le lac Toba - Singkil - Berastagi - Ketambe - Banda Aceh. Les chauffeurs étaient ponctuels, discrets et prudents. La communication via WhatsApp a été très facile, l'interlocuteur étant très réactif. Rimba (Sumatran Tour & Travel.) arrangerede en fantastisk otte-dages tur for os i Nordvestsumatra i Indonesien. Hele rejsen var godt planlagt, og han sørgede blandt andet for transport mellem de forskellige steder, vi skulle besøge. Alt fungerede trygt og problemfrit.

Vi begyndte turen i Bukit Lawang, en lille by på kanten af regnskoven. Her havde Rimba indlogeret os på en hyggelig Ecolodge, som var et perfekt udgangspunkt for vandreture i Gunung Leuser Nationalpark.

Selvom vi havde lokale guider med på vores todages tur i regnskoven, valgte Rimba også selv at tage med. Det blev en stor gevinst for oplevelsen. Han er opvokset i området og har et imponerende kendskab til både den lokale kultur og regnskovens dyreliv. Samtidig taler han rigtig godt engelsk. Denne kombination gjorde, at vi lærte utrolig meget om både indonesisk kultur, lokal historie og områdets mange dyr.

Kommunikationen med Rimba var nem og behagelig både før og under turen. Han var imødekommende, fleksibel og gjorde sit bedste for at opfylde vores ønsker og forventninger.
