An excellent 1-day jungle trek into sumatra national park of gunung leuser in Bukit lawang with Latvian family of 6 pax
Welcome to sumatra and welcome to Gunung Leuser National Park guys. It was such as a beautiful day, hot and humid under the canopy of the sumatra jungle, we hike through the day. Even though the terrain was bit wet due to the previous rain, but we managed very well. We enjoyed the hike all the way from the start to finished. The hike was around 5-6 hours with lots of breaks. Lots of climbing on a very steep hills.

TANGKAHAN is another entrance into Gunung lesuer national park. It is around 1 hour 30 minutes to drive from bukit lawang through the palm oil plantation. It is a Sumatran Elephant Sanctuary. This village used to be the Illegal Loggers base camp. It is the meeting point of two rivers. A lot of those logs were transported by the river. Often the elephant were used to pull the log into the riverbank. There a lot of wild Sumatran elephant in this area of the national park. The wild one often come to the plantation area and destroy the plantation, well it used to be part of the jungle perhaps..
