Welcome to sumatra and welcome to Gunung Leuser National Park guys.. We are happy and thrilled to have you with us on this tour. We had a really time and enjoy the trip very much. Our trip start from pick up from kuala namu international airport. Driving through the Medan city and Binjai city with lots of traffic mixed of various vehicles. Driving through the traffic in the city is very challenging. Then we passed the city and getting to the rural areas. The road seems bit better, but soon change to rugged and bumpy road. driving through the palm oil plantation all the way till bukit lawang. passing all the the villages along the way
🐾 Gunung Leuser National Park is Wildlife Haven

Amorphophallus titanum in Batu Katak
Visit Batu katak area. Another entrance to sumatra national park. Batu katak is around 3o minutes drive from Bukit Lawang. The amorphophallus titanum flower are randomly grown near the lime stone all over this area. It is not available every day. If there is a chance, we will get notified, then we will offer the tourist to visit and observe the flower
Tangkahan the hidden paradise in the sumatra jungle
TANGKAHAN is another entrance into Gunung lesuer national park. It is around 1 hour 30 minutes to drive from bukit lawang through the palm oil plantation. It is a Sumatran Elephant Sanctuary. This village used to be the Illegal Loggers base camp. It is the meeting point of two rivers. A lot of those logs were transported by the river. Often the elephant were used to pull the log into the riverbank. There a lot of wild Sumatran elephant in this area of the national park. The wild one often come to the plantation area and destroy the plantation, well it used to be part of the jungle perhaps..

Explore the village and interact with the local: Spend a day to explore the village. If its on friday, there will be a friday market at the gotong royong village. You can explore this market while on the village tour.
The village tour is designed to explore the surrounding area and interact with the local. There are plenty of things to see. If you are on a tour for the giant floer at Batu katak, on your return back to the Bukit lawang you could explore these places as well, otherwise the Explore village tour can be done y TUK TUK or BICYCLE. The aim of this tour is to visit the home production of Tempeh, Tofu or Palm sugar. Take a part in making process of the these products.
There is also a place where you could drink the coconut water for your electrolyte liquid. If the durian on season, you could give a try to eat some durian as well. There are so many thing you could do and participate with the local to get to know the locals. If there is a wedding in the village, feel free to take part and participate. you are mostly welcome to do so. Please go with the local guide
